Local currencies and company tokens

Digital tokens such as company tokens or neighborhood currencies are developed together with municipalities, SMEs and local initiatives. They make regional services visible and strengthen the local economy. Pilot projects show how such digital solutions can be used simply, flexibly and collaboratively - for greater participation and sustainable local economic cycles.

Digital tokens for a strong local economy

With the ongoing digital transformation, local economies need new tools to keep value local. This project offers a practical approach for SMEs, cooperatives, municipalities and citizens to test token-based value systems and participate in sustainable, participatory economic models.

Goals and benefits

What we intend to do

  • Understanding and incorporating local needs
  • Identify ways in which "local value" (e.g. time, performance, sustainability) can be mapped digitally
  • Developing an open token concept
  • Set up a working group with various stakeholders
  • Launch a pilot project with local partners
  • Document the entire process - for learning and copying

Who is it for?

  • SMEs and cooperatives
  • Municipalities and regional development agencies
  • Citizens, initiatives and local networks
  • Research and think tanks
  • Interested parties from the public

What you get out of it

  • An easy way to get started with your own token projects
  • Strengthening trust and collaboration in your community
  • More resilience for the local economy
  • Space for new ideas around participation, recognition and sustainable incentives
  • A transparent, measurable development process

We are jointly developing a flexible system for local digital tokens - e.g. as a reward for commitment, as an alternative currency or for participation in companies. The goal is a robust, fair and community-driven local economy.
