New perspectives: Workshop with Viva con Agua and Helvetas

On September 4, 2024, the Viva con Agua and Helvetas teams met for our workshop, which provided initial insights into the principles of regenerative leadership. The aim of the workshop was to strengthen team collaboration and promote a future-oriented way of working that focuses on joie de vivre, sustainability and mutual support.

An inspiring start in nature

The venue by the water not only offered the participants a peaceful atmosphere, but also served as a symbol for the regenerative and natural processes that characterized the workshop theme. As soon as they arrived, the participants noticed how the distance from everyday office life had a positive effect on their openness and curiosity.

Introduction to regenerative leadership

After the welcome round, Lisa Allmayer and Daniela Quilitzsch from Regenerative Leaders gave an initial overview of the principles of regenerative leadership. This type of leadership focuses on the well-being of employees and harmony within the team and differs clearly from traditional, more performance-oriented approaches. The participants discussed how these principles are already applied in their day-to-day work and where there is still room for development.

Self-regulation and co-regulation as central themes

After a coffee break, the teams from Viva con Agua and Helvetas delved deeper into the principles of self-regulation and co-regulation. With the help of polyvagal theory, which explains the nervous system's reactions to stress and relaxation, the course leaders highlighted the importance of self-regulation as the basis for healthy teamwork. In small groups, the participants exchanged ideas on how to strengthen their own resilience and joint relief mechanisms within the team.

Recognizing and incorporating individual strengths

In the afternoon, the focus was then on personal resources and the question of how individual strengths and sensitivities can be specifically incorporated into the collaboration. In exercises, the participants reflected on how an appreciative team culture can be strengthened and what wishes they have for future collaboration.

Concrete steps for everyday work

At the end of the workshop, the two teams developed concrete measures that they would like to integrate into their everyday work. They agreed on a mutual "follow-up" to support the implementation of the findings. This agreement should help to anchor the positive impulses in everyday life in the long term.

The feedback at the end of the day showed that the exchange and suggestions from the two trainers were particularly appreciated. The workshop gave the participants new tools to actively live the regenerative principles in their daily work and to promote a culture of mutual respect and support.
