Artificial intelligence on the rise: highlights from the Digital Summit 2024

On April 24, 2024, the Digital Summit took place in Vaduz, which was dedicated to the current AI revolution. High-profile experts from companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Palantir discussed the success factors of artificial intelligence for business and the state. The event, a flagship of the digital-liechtenstein.li location initiative, attracted over 350 decision-makers and digital enthusiasts to shed light on the opportunities and challenges of AI from various perspectives.

Markus Mayer from the Office for Information Technology presented the current digitalization and e-government projects from a government perspective. Dalith Steiger, a renowned AI expert and serial founder, guided the audience through the complex world of new technologies and illustrated their potential and limitations using specific examples. She emphasized the far-reaching effects of AI on processes and solutions in companies.

An important aspect of using AI is data storage in the cloud, as emphasized by Christian Keller from AWS. He was convinced of the enormous impact that AI will have on the way we work. According to a recent study by AWS, one in three companies in Switzerland is already using AI applications, and this potential is set to increase significantly in the coming years.

After a refreshment break, the focus turned to Estonia, a model country for digital transformation. Florian Marcus explained the basic principles for a digital society and discussed experiences and examples of successful digitalization projects with representatives from Liechtenstein.

Finally, Akshay Krishnaswamy, Chief Architect at Palantir, explained the importance of data-driven decisions based on AI and emphasized the relevance of approaching the opportunities and challenges of new technologies with an open mind in order not to miss out on the AI revolution.
