The EU nominates "digihub.li" as Liechtenstein's European Digital Innovation Hub
Vaduz (ots) -
The EU has announced the evaluation results of the latest European Digital Innovation Hub call. Three projects from Liechtenstein submitted their applications and two of them were able to meet the high standards and requirements of the EU. The innovative concept of "digihub.li" convinced the EU experts and independent selection committee and received the EU funding nomination. For Liechtenstein, this means another step towards the digital future.
With a Europe-wide network of Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH), the EU Commission wants to support the digital transformation of the European economy, tourism and public administration. In addition, the digital skills of the population are to be promoted. By participating in the European digitization programs, Liechtenstein can now also benefit from this network and contribute its own strengths.
The Liechtenstein EDIH digihub.li, nominated by the EU Commission, has chosen the thematic focus areas of blockchain, token economy in combination with sustainable and regenerative business models and offers four core services: an innovation ecosystem to support SMEs and public administration in the development of digital business models; the promotion of digital skills among employees of SMEs and the administration as well as the population; the personal coaching of digital transformation projects; the provision of innovation spaces for startups, SMEs and investors to build and scale digital business models.
The Liechtenstein Parliament approved the budget for the Liechtenstein EDIH in November 2022. Following the announcement of the EU Commission's decision, the funds must now be allocated to the specific Innovation Hub by means of a financial decision. The official launch of the EDIH is expected in the second quarter of 2023 after completion of all formalities.
